4. [Father of Marschkamp/Ottersberg] LÜERS . This database was built upon records acquired from the family, which are largely attributed to a granddaughter of Catherin Marie Lührs (b 1829) who is deceased. This Lührs family in America is descended from Johann Christof Lührs (1794-1872) who was the long-time teacher in Ottersberg. It is maintained in this website by Rich Luhrs, son of Victor Luhrs (1912-1984) , who is an active contributor to the project.
Ottersberg is about 15 km ENE of Bremen, and is shown on the 1832 map. Marschkamp is located about 7 km east of present day Bremerhaven, near the village of Elmlohe, which is on modern roadmaps. That places it about 15 km NE of Stotel on the 1832 map.
